Laminate Flooring – The Process Explained

Laminate flooring is often misunderstood as the type of flooring, but in reality laminate flooring refers to the process which is applied to the flooring rather than a specific floor type. Laminate flooring refers to a floor hardening through which hard fibre glass or a specific type of plastic is combined with the core of the product through heating and pressure. The two main types of laminate flooring processes are that of direct pressure and then also high pressure laminate flooring. With direct pressure a section is produced at a time with lower pressure than is applied with the high pressure method. It is the cheaper version of the two types with slightly less scratch resistance than the high pressure type. With the high pressure process intense pressure and heat are applied to the whole area of core material. It is more expensive, but also more durable and scratch resistant.
